Pattaya's Legendary Nights Pattaya nightlife

Jump to: Pattaya nightlife Galleries - Pattaya nightlife Articles

Nightlife in Pattaya is legendary. From its earliest beginnings when Pattaya was being converted from a sleepy fishing town to a resort community it has been the nightlife of Pattaya that drew in visitors.

The earliest visitors to Pattaya were United States servicemen stationed nearby during the Vietnam War. Prostitution and beer bars became popular in Pattaya and both remain so. The city transformed into an entertainment center that offers incredible nightlife.

Pattaya Nightlife - The Bars

The bars of Pattaya remain one of its most popular attractions. Open-air and air-conditioned bars draw in visitors looking for a drink and a good time. Live music, go-go girls, go-go boys, karaoke and Harley's are just some of the ways the bars distinguish themselves.

The diversity of the visitors to Pattaya translates into a diversity of the bars. From bars that cater to businessmen, to bars for sports fans, to bars for gay men and bars for women, visitors to Pattaya have many options to choose from and most bars will draw in a solid crowd every night of the week.

Reviewing a guide on the beer bars and cabaret bars is a good idea. Visitors will want to know if they are entering a gay bar, straight bar, transvestite bar, etc. There have plenty of men visiting the cabaret shows and falling for the "women" performers just to find out that they are all actually men. The three most popular of these cabaret shows are: Alcazar, Tiffany Show and Simon.

Pattaya Nightlife - The Music

Music can keep a night pumping and Pattaya has plenty of musical offerings. From live music bars to hopping dance clubs, the music seems to never end in Pattaya. If you are looking for music, you want to consider: After That, FLB, Moon River Pub, Sharky's, Bamboo Bar, Blue Factory and Star Music.

If you have dancing feet and want to enjoy pumping dance music check out: Marine (argued to have the best looking crowd), Tony's Entertainment Complex and Cool Spot (free admission but expensive drinks) and X-zyte (Thai music).

Pattaya Nightlife - The Food

Many travelers begin their night with a great meal. Pattaya has many high quality restaurants and affordable restaurants to choose from. Not all restaurants offer air-conditioning so make sure you know that in advance.

We recommend you consider having dinner at: Bruno's (French), Royal Cliff Beach Hotel (Indian), Shenanigans (Pub), Sugar Hut, Art Heidelberg (German) Henry J. Bean's (Mexican, Steak), Lobster Pot (Seafood), Pectopah (Russian), PIC Kitchen (Thai), Ali Baba (Indian), Ciao (Pizza/Italian), JJ Pizza (Pizza/Italian), Queen Victoria Inn (English Pub), Rice Mill (Chinese), Vientiane (Thai, Indonesian), Tips (Breakfast) and Pig 'n Whistle (English Pub).

Each of these restaurants will serve you a good meal with the best (but also most expensive) being: Bruno's, Royal Cliff Beach Hotel and Sugar Hut.

Pattaya Nightlife - Keeping it Safe

Safety is important. Visitors are encouraged to use common sense and their best judgment. Keep in mind that the age of consent in Thailand is 15, but for prostitutes (legal in Thailand) the age of consent is 18. All Thai people carry ID cards that clearly mark their age. Many hotels and resorts require any "additional guests" to sign in or pay a fee, or deposit their ID cards with security during their stay.

Scams are common but most are harmless. Try to never give out the name of your hotel and the room you are staying in. You should also be careful that when you get on a songthaew you do not accidentally authorize the driver to convert it to a charter (bringing you to a specific place) because you will be charged well more than the 10 Baht you should be paying.

The legendary nightlife of Pattaya is its biggest draw. Visitors should find the bars, clubs and other entertainment that interests them the most and enjoy their amazing nights in Pattaya.
