Pattaya is known around the world for its amazing and diverse nightlife. After one trip to Pattaya you will see why. There are different types of bars, clubs and entertainment that can be enjoyed in Pattaya.
Pattaya's Nightlife - The Beer Bars
The beer bars of Pattaya are known around the world and are often staffed with "bar girls". Bar girls are "for hire" and it is a legal practice in Thailand as long as she is over the age of 18. Open-air beer bars are scattered throughout Pattaya with there being a large number around Soi 7 & Soi 8 and Walking Street.
Indoor beer bars are primarily found near Soi 7 and parts of Soi Post Office (Soi 13/2). Many of these bars are popular with visitors willing to pay a "fine" to the bar so the bar girl can leave with them. 1:00AM is closing time at the bars.
Go-Go Bars in Pattaya
Go-Go bars, also called a-go-go bars, are heavily concentrated on Walking Street and the three Pattayaland Streets. These bars are popular around 8:00pm through 1:00am or 2:00am. Cameras are not welcomed in most of the go-go bars and some even require you to leave your camera with security when you enter.
Pattaya Nightlife - Bars with a Twist
There are a number of bars that are twists on traditional bars. Freestyle Casino Club for example is not a casino. Though it is listed as a Go-Go bar, the girls dance fully clothed. The bar is popular for being fun and lively.
Boyz Town (Soi Pattayaland 3) is where male go-go dancers can be found and is known as the gay part of town. There are places to eat and drink in Boyz Town and though not common women are welcomed to ogle the men of Boyz Town.
Jenny Star Bar is the bar of choice for transvestites and their admirers. This is an open-air bar that often spills out onto the street. Plenty of gawkers are standing by.
Jupiter-Go-Go at Second Road and Soi Pattayaland 2 is where you can enjoy salsa, merengue and samba every Friday night.
Life is a Cabaret - Pattaya Cabarets & Discos
Pattaya is Internationally known for its katoey cabaret, also referred to as ladyboy or transvestite shows. The two most popular and highly rated are Alcazar (Second Road) and Tiffany's Show (Second Road).
If you rather be part of the action and enjoy dancing you want to try: Chivas Palace (Second Road), Hollywood Disco (South Road) or Zzyte Entertainment (Third Road). The Hard Rock Café is also a place of choice if you want lively fun music.
Other popular dance clubs are Luciver (popular with Thai people), Marine Disco (free admission but expensive drinks), Star Dice Entertainment (same price for visitors as locals) and Tony's Entertianment Complex (free entry and very expensive drinks).
Pattaya Nightlife - For Hire Girls and Boys
There is no secret that Pattaya offers visitors the opportunity to pay for the company of "for hire" girls and boys. Though this practice is legal there are very strict age requirements. For hire workers must be 18 and have proper identification. Many hotels and resorts strictly monitor this activity and may require you to pay a fee for the extra guest or have them deposit their ID card during their stay.
Visitors should use discretion and common sense when engaging in nightlife in Pattaya.
