Pattaya transportation is most often provided by songthaews. These vehicles are a cross between trucks, buses and taxis. In fact some people refer to them as Baht Buses. At 10 Baht a trip these are a very cost-effective means of Pattaya transportation.
If you see songthaews that are empty or close to being empty you want to avoid them. Often the drivers are trying to scam passengers into "chartering" a songthaew and charing significantly more than the 10 Bath fee.
The routes include circuits that start at the junction of South Pattaya Road and Second Road north along Second Road to Dolphin Circle. Generally you will only have to wait a few seconds before another songthaew passes by.
To get to Jomtien the songthaews pick up starting at the beginning of Pratamnak Road. For Naklua the songhtaew will go up Second Road to Dolphin Roundabout.
Songthaews are the most cost effective and reliable ways to travel in and around Pattaya.
